I am directed by the Marquess of Lansdowne to transmit to you, to be laid before Mr. Secretary Lyttelton, for his confidential information, copies of correspondence, as marked in the margin, relating to the British Steam Ship "Monmouthshire", which left the Royal Albert Dock on February 6th last for China and Japan, having on board the Japanese gun-boat "Fushimi" in sections, comprised in one hundred and thirty-two packages, which are marked "Shanghai", "Y. Stores C. S.S." and "T.H.".

It will be seen from the telegram received from His Majesty's Minister at Peking that the "Monmouthshire" has arrived at Shanghai, having discharged the packages in question at Kowloon.
